Another comedian with a podcast?<\/p>\n<p>Not exactly!<\/p>\n<h2>The History of the Comedy Above The Pub (CATP) Podcast<\/h2>\n<p>Not just one of Canada\u2019s longest running comedy podcasts where guests the likes of Andy Kindler, \u201c<i>Whose Line Is It Anyway?<\/i>\u201d stars Greg Proops and Colin Mochrie, \u201c<i>Kids in the Hall<\/i>\u201d\u2019s Bruce McCulloch, \u201c<i>Iron Chef America<\/i>\u201d co-host Kevin Brauch and CBC\u2019s \u201c<i>The Debaters<\/i>\u201d host Steve Patterson have swung by for a visit. As a result of the success of the show, CATP host Todd Van Allen has been interviewed on the CBC show \u201c<i>Spark<\/i>\u201d and written up in \u201c<i>Macleans<\/i>\u201d magazine. You can read the article\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.macleans.ca\/2013\/04\/17\/how-to-make-it-in-comedy-cut-the-jokes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>CATP first started out as The TVA Podcast back in 2007. Host Van Allen started the podcast at the behest of producer Darcy Fiander, and started releasing episodes featuring Todd\u2019s weekly radio segments for BOB\u2019s Breakfast on BOB-FM, and Mike Reid on 98.9-THE DRIVE.<\/p>\n<p>Over a series of episodes, the TVA Podcast also began to release interview episodes with various comedians.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Nostalgia Note:<\/i><\/b><b><i>\u00a0You can still find all the classic TVA podcast episodes at his website and on iTunes.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the TVA podcast include not only Todd\u2019s conversations with local and touring comedians, but also the first visit of \u201cIron Chef America\u201d co-host Kevin Brauch and Paul F. Tompkins who talked to Todd when he came to Toronto in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The TVA podcast completed its run with episode #201 and transitioned to Comedy Above The Pub. In so doing, it has never ceased its mandate of bringing on guests who, though may not be comedians, have a funny story to tell.
